THEY WILL ASK thee as to what they should spend on others. Say: "Whatever of your wealth you spend shall [first] be for your parents, and for the near of kin, and the orphans, and the needy, and the wayfarer; and whatever good you do, verily, God has full knowledge thereof." - Al-Baqarah (2:215)

Back-to-school-shopping December 2016

Friday 3rd December 2016 - The first round of BTSS for children of my clients this year started off with just a small group in Kampar. 2 newbies, going to kindergarten next year, and a boy under our sponsorship programme, who will be in form 2 next year. While the 2 younger kids came with their mothers, the boy's mother had to work and so his sister who just completed her SPM recently, accompanied him. Total damages for round 1: RM564-10.

Monday 5th December 2016 - Round 2 in Taiping, involving a bigger group. 15 children from 5 families. From kindergarten kids right to those who will be in form 5 next year. Total damages RM2,703-40.

Wednesday 7th December 2016 - Round 3 in Ipoh, involving only 3 children from 2 families. All 3 children under our sponsorship programme. Total spent: RM1,468-50 including payment for fees and workbooks.

Thursday 8th December 2016 - Round 4 in Kuala Kangsar. This time I picked up one family who was supposed to join the Ipoh group but was unable to do so because the client's son, who is HIV+, had to go for his appointment at the hospital on the same day. They agreed to join me in Kuala Kangsar with 5 other families. Total pax in Kuala Kangsar round, 10 children from 6 families. Total spent RM1,689-90.

Friday 9th December 2016 - Round 5 in Batu Gajah. 11 children from 6 families. Total spent RM2,062-90.

Tuesday 13th December 2016 - Round 6 (and final round) in Slim River. 3 children from 2 families. RM744-25.

TOTAL: 45 children. RM9,233-05.

The amount could have been bigger if not for the free supplies of school bags and stationeries we got from NGO Hub Asia. So yes, thank you NGO Hub for your contribution this year!
