Today's posting is not about any of the HIV families I'm dealing with.
Instead, since a few NGOs in Perak have been invited to join a committee to deal with women, children and social issues, I've been roped in to be in the organising committee for a few seminars and campaigns. The first was a seminar on Domestic Violence held in May this year.

Time: 7.00 am - 1.00 pm
Guest of honour: YAB Dato' Seri Zambry bin Abdul Kadir, MB of Perak
7.00 - 8.00 am : Registration
8.00 - 9.00 am : Senamrobik
9.00 am : Start of activities including exhibition booths & coloring competition
9.45 am : Arrival of guest of honour
10.00 am : Launch of campaign by Mentri Besar of Perak
10.30 am -
1.00 pm : Exhibition booths/coloring competition/martial arts demo
Free campaign t-shirts will be given free to those who register early.

Although I'm against violence of whatever form, but sad to say, I've seen cases where women is the contributing factor too.
How do you regard these?

No matter who or what the contributing factors are, whether the victims are men or women, our target is create awareness on the issue of violence.
During the seminar on domestic violence we organised in May this year, the speakers did cover not only examples of women being victims, but also a few examples of men being victims, and where women were seen as contributing factors.
Our objective is to overcome social problems in the society. The causes need to be studied, and steps must to be taken to avoid the same happening in the future.
That is why in our campaigns, our main target are the youngsters, men or women.
For this particular campaign, we are especially targeting the men to get them involved.
It's a long journey, and we don't expect to solve the problem with just this one campaign, but we've got to start somewhere.
