Update on Fuzi

Remember my earlier posting about Fuzi’s problem in getting her Narathiwat marriage cert recognized in Malaysia? Without that her children may not get their MyKad and will only be given PR status. Those who missed that story or may have forgotten what it was about can read it here.

I went to visit Fuzi again yesterday with a load of diapers, milk powder and cereal for Iwan, her youngest child, plus other food stuff for the other kids. Also gave them some photos taken during the recent Family Day.

It was during the school holidays, and so all the children were home when I went to visit. By now the children are used to seeing me; they are no longer shy to open up the packs of food I brought for them.

I asked Fuzi on the latest status of her marriage cert, and was told that now she’s just waiting for the letter asking her to come to the Mahkamah Syariah to formalise things. But according to the guy who was helping her out, most likely it will be approved. Hopefully soon. Wina will be going to secondary school next year and will need to get her MyKad done soon. For the time being, she’s only getting a PR card.

What I’m rather curious about is the money that Fuzi had to pay. I can understand she had to spend quite a lot to pay for some penalties, attestation, travelling and all that stuff. But I found out that other than the penalties and all, Fuzi had to pay a few hundreds to the guy supposedly helping her out. She didn’t know what the money was for – she just wanted to get things done so when she was asked to pay, she just paid. No receipts were issued. She had been putting aside bit by bit, some of the money banked in monthly to her account by an anonymous donor, for emergency needs. That was how she managed to fork out the money.

I began to get suspicious. I asked around and a friend told me that if the amount is in hundreds, then most likely it was “under the table” money. Ahh!! The desperate poor need help and people in the position to help are taking advantage of them instead. The guy probably considered it as his “fee” for helping her out. Just like the scumbags who charges a few hundreds for helping out poor people apply for their EPF withdrawals!

Somehow there are many out there who feel it is okay to gain some side income this way… without considering how difficult it is for the poor to fork out the money. The more desperate the poor are, the easier it is for the scumbags to take advantage of them.

Sigh…

Assalamualaikum Pi Bani,

Thanks for your post. I got so angry at that type of people who take advantage of the needy. Why don't they make things easy for them? Subhana Allah, didn't they realised that if today they serve the needy, then one day Allah will help them back when they in need. Their actions only added more sins instead of blessing of Allah. How could we give reminder to these people?

I am fear of Allah's anger. May Allah forgive them and give them guidance.

I pray that Allah makes things easy for all of us and especially for Fuzi. Ameen.

yeah. all these duit kopi and everything, it is the poor who suffers.

it enrages me to see how some people have to be bribed to do their jobs. So, selama ni asyik makan gaji buta aje la? bila kena buat keja, mintak duit lebih plak. mmg tak guna.

it is frustrating to hear of such people who take advantages of the poor..will pray that Fuzi will get her marriage cert approved soon.

u have a great day PiBani and wished there were more people like u who helped people with ur heart...

Lightnur,
Wa'alaikumussalaam...

Some people don't feel guilty at all taking advantage of the needy. They only consider the short term benefits...

Pi Bani said...

Sue,
Tu lah pasal... to them their gaji is for going to the office. Any work that needs to be done require additional perks. "Biasalah... " so they say. And that's the problem, it becomes so "biasa" people no longer feel guilty doing so.

Winnie,
Too bad there are quite a number of people who takes advantage of the desperate poor. Whatever it is I sure hope things will work out soon for Fuzi and her children.

Hvae a nice day Winnie!

Pn.Pi Bani, since u kno abt all those stuff, why dont u report aje si mala'*n tu? kalau tak pun, teman dia pergi so bila tht guy mintak unnecessary money, u sergah dia kaw-kaw. ;)

some ppl kalau setakat kena report diorang buat dek aje sbb most likely nothing will happen but bila dah kena sergah depan orang baru rasa malu. itupun malu aje, bukan rasa bersalah.

PrincessJournals,
Fuzi kalau boleh tak nak menyusahkan I, that's why she went on her own - which is good so that she learns to be independent. But even if I did go with her, sergah is not my style. I'm more of the "perli dalam senyum" type... bunyi cakap macam lembut je but pedih menusuk kalbu. Usually works better... ;)

Salam Pn Bani,
Amin.

Salam networking . I put your link to my blog.

Mariannie,
Payah betul... nak kena ada menteri or YB melawat baru kerja nak jalan... or dah keluar kat TV baru nak ambil tindakan. Problem is in the case of my PLWHA clients, because of their HIV status, depa tak nak keluar TV...

Anyway, thanks for the link.

Leech! No, actually this fella is worse than a leech. She already forked out a substantial amount and this guy had the heart still to squeeze on what’s left to the last bit. Cheapskate scumbag!

Pi Bani said...

Kerp,
Yep, he had the heart to squeeze on what's left to the last bit. Oh wait, maybe he didn't have a heart at all!! He probably thinks he's Fuzi's saviour for getting her marriage cert legalized... (and Fuzi too would probably be thanking him no end once it's done!)

KakPi..WhoooHooo..nice facelift lah... I like it, I like it...alamak tu specs akak ke...rasanye macam bukan jerr...

Bab Fuzi ni kan, macam dah biasa berkumandang...bab tindas menindas and mengambil kesempatan bukan kepada yang kaya tapi yang susah lak tu...alahai..apa nak jadi dgn masyarakat kita ni ye?

Pi Bani said...

Raden,
Memang not my specs lah... I only need glasses for reading, so no need that big lah... :)

Anyway, orang susah memang lebih mudah ditindas dari orang kaya... dan yang menindas pulak cuma pikir poket sendiri, tak kiralah siapa yang ditindas tu!

Hi Pi Bani,

It's so common to see those 'leachers' draining their 'clients' of the little that they have.
To them, well, it's all in a day's work, a business transaction...."I do work for you, you pay."

Kerp (Ph.D) said...

ramai sngt org yg suka ambik ksempatan, lg2 atas kesusahan org lain. dah la susah, lagi papa kedana dibuatnya. mmg betul akak kata, takde hati lansung.

wahhh...semua buat facelift la. baru perasan. slow la saya ni. pegi kak dalilah punya blog lg terkejut. mcm masuk salah rumah org je. hihi..

thank you.

Nyonya Penang,
Actually it is already their job, but somehow they decided to sub-contract it out to themselves... so whoever using their services got to pay extra lor...

Hi Kak Pi,
This is disgusting, to say the least. I guess the saying about how the poor getting poorer and the richer getting richer is very true. Almost universal is the trait. I wonder how can people sleep at night?

Lee said...

Hi Pi Bani, hey, nice unusual but humourous header. You sure got a fantastic sense of humour. How fitting.
Really sad read your this post. Beli lima durians tentu dapat satu ada 'rosak' dalam.
You keep well, Pi Bani, UL.
Ps, wa, suda banyak orang 'repainted, redecorate' their blogs. Very nice. Like JT said, 'get jelak'. Ha ha.

Pi Bani said...

Daph,
Some people dream of money when they sleep. The more money they get, the better they sleep. Doesn't matter how they get the money. Disgusting to us, but normal thing to them!

K.Ruby,
Although you left your comment in my previous posting, but I think it was meant for this posting. So, I'm replying it here instead. Conscious sangat ke kena STARE with my blog's new heading sampaikan tersilap tekan comment link... ;)

Well yeah, the glasses are there to enable me to stare at my blog visitors... hahaha!!

Back to the topic, yes, it is important for the poor to be educated. Otherwise, very easy for others to take advantage of them.

Pi Bani said...

U.Lee,
Unusual heading? Well yeah, it's symbolic... the way I see things... dari kacamata ku... ;) So next time you visit my blog, I can observe what type of person you are... hehehe...

Nice new look, Pi. Love the glasses... reminds me of granny's. :D

Anyway, I am with all the commenters here regarding people who have no conscience, heart and what-not. People like this will pay for "their sins" someday. What goes around, comes around.

I hope things get easier for Fuzi.

JT,
Maybe some day I'll change the blog title to Granny Pi's Twist, eh? Then I can nag all I want. Hahaha...
